Creating Value versus Avoiding Mistakes

Can you create value if you are constantly in fear of making a mistake? I think that you must push the envelope at all times in order to keep creating value and staying ahead of the competition. Mistakes occur from time to time, and I think that is perfectly ok as long as you learn something and move forward.

Are you stuck in a position where you constantly fear screwing up for fear of losing your job? You will never learn anything new this way, and you will only get better at the systematic process you are stuck in and relied upon to deliver everyday. Don’t become irreplaceable or you will never break free of the role. Find a position where you can constantly innovate and create value – push the envelope, make some mistakes, and move forward.

    Sam,

Don’t know if you remember me or not. I am Blake Sternberger’s mom from the old PDS days.
I love keeping up with what you guys are doing these days. I especially enjoy your positive posts. You are quite an inspiration ! ! ! Keep up the good work ! ! !

I am in real estate ( unfortunately, Memphis real estate…..I need some positive thoughts on that….please share yours ! ! !), but I have been a pharmacist since before I had Blake and am practicing in that field almost exclusively these days. My main gig is acute care at Methodist Germantown and a small closed door psych practice (actually with Steve Rice, Michael’s dad). Then I do relief work for West Clinic and a small specialty pharmacy. It gives me a chance to get different exposure which I love. All of my patient populations are different and I enjoy the chance to interact with them and I see much more than if I just concentrated in one area.

Hope all is well with you and your family ! Keep posting ! You can’t imagine what an inspiration you are and I am so proud to say I knew you “WHEN!”

    Paula ;;;)))
